As a Board Certified Pediatric Dentist and Unity Point’s Chief of Dental Surgery, Dr. Hans specializes in serving the surgical dental needs of toddlers, kids, adolescents, and speical health care needs patients. For your child’s dental needs, we are dedicated to providing the best care possible! A Child Life specialist is utilized to provide a fun and welcoming atmosphere.

Dr Hans grew up on a dairy farm in Monticello, a small town located in Eastern Iowa. He continued his education after high school at the University of Iowa and furthered his education at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry to receive his D.D.S (Doctor of Dental Surgery). He greatly enjoys the surgical aspect and pediatric side of dentistry and continues to help provide care with multiple offices throughout the Des Moines area. He thoroughly enjoys treating children not only because he truly believes it makes everlasting memories from their early experiences, but also because working on children is just like Forrest Gump once said “It is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are gonna get

REFERRAL NEEDED
We look forward to meeting you at Iowa Pediatric Dental Surgery. Before scheduling a consultation for surgery, we will first need a referral from your dentist or other health care professional.
TREATMENT UTILISING GENERAL ANESTHSIA
Iowa Pediatric Dental surgery provides care to children that are needing full oral rehabilitation with the adjunct of general anesthesia. We provide care at a hospital setting with the help of the hospital staff to facilitate safe and exceptional care for our patients. In office treatment with nitrous or sedation is not offered. If your referring dentist or health care provider believes treatment can be rendered without general anesthesia, we ask you to discuss those options with them before making an appointment with us.
DENTAL HOME
Following surgery, routine dental care will be continued by your referring dentist or dental home. Routine cleanings and exams at your dental home is imperative to maintain a clean and healthy mouth for your child.
